Grand Slam for Baseball Legends Mays, Robinson, Snider, and Schilling

This room is rockin, remarked Tommy Lasorda, Master of Ceremonies and Hall of Fame Manager. The 2nd Annual In the Spirit of the Game couldnt have been more magical. The affair, resembling a Field of Dreams collection of baseball greats, recognized some of Americas top players, scouts, and executives for their outstanding achievement and contributions in professional baseball. The evening, which will long be remembered by both guests and honorees, gave credence to why baseball became one of Americas favorite past-times.

Beverly Hills, CA/Cedar Knolls, NJ January 10, 2005 -- This room is rockin, remarked Tommy Lasorda, Master of Ceremonies and Hall of Fame Manager. The 2nd Annual In the Spirit of the Game couldnt have been more magical. The affair, resembling a Field of Dreams collection of baseball greats, recognized some of Americas top players, scouts, and executives for their outstanding achievement and contributions in professional baseball. The evening, which will long be remembered by both guests and honorees, gave credence to why baseball became one of Americas favorite past times.

Baseball legend Duke Snider received the Player Lifetime Achievement Award while Boston Red Sox Curt Schilling was recognized as Player of the Year. Pat Gillick was honored with the Executive Lifetime Achievement Award and baseball scout Bob Zuk received the George Genovese Lifetime Achievement Award. Rounding out the evening was Olympic Gold Medalist Jennie Finch, who was the recipient of the Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation Amateur Choice Award.

The highlight of the evening was Willie Mays presentation of the coveted A Scouts Dream The Willie Mays Award to Frank Robinson. I have received a lot of awards but this is something I will always cherish, remarks Robinson.

The gala also hosted a live auction of baseball and sports memorabilia, which raised over $300,000 for the Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation (PBSF).

Behind the scenes, honorees and guests visited the Winners Circle in the gift bag showroom and autographed the hood of the #32 WINFUEL / TRIMSPA Chevrolet. Signatures collected included: Cleveland Indian Aaron Boone, Hall of Famers and baseball legends Willie Mays and Duke Snider, Tom Arnold from the Best Damn Sports Show, Grammy Award Winner Michael McDonald, Jennie Finch and many others. The autographed items will be used at a to-be-named charity auction, with all proceeds donated.
